Worship:

'We want to praise God with our lips and honour Him with our lives.'

This summary of our first Key Priority reminds us that giving God first place in our lives is the most important thing we can do. Worship really means giving God His ‘worth’. It conveys the ideas of bowing before God in love and respect and giving Him our very best. So true worship is much more than what we do on a Sunday morning! It’s about how we live our whole lives to bring honour to God.

But for now, let’s think of the narrower view of worship in what we do on a Sunday morning. Our worship consists of the following elements:

Praise, Prayers, Bible Reading, Bible Teaching, A Collection (Offering), Baptism and Holy Communion.

When we worship, we worship as the Body of Christ. Therefore it is important that in our worship we acknowledge the entire Body. This means that our worship tries to incorporate people of all ages within the congregation. So we sing contemporary and traditional songs. We have a short children’s spot at the beginning for the younger members of the church before they go out to their own Sunday School Program. Most weeks the bible readings will be taken by people of different ages. There is also a bible-teaching slot for teens and adults. On the second Sunday of each month we have a shorter service where all the children are encouraged to stay in church for the whole service. Our prayers cover the full range of ways we should talk to God including Praise and thanks, confession of our failings and a focus on other people in our church, our community and the wider world. We have coffee and biscuits after church on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Creche facilities are also available every Sunday.
